We usually don't love any missed training camp reps, but the McFadden news isn't at all concerning. Lighting up the practice field before the injury, McFadden will save wear and tear on his legs and probably be fine for the last two preseason games. He already knows Hue Jackson's scheme, so it isn't like the injury will put McFadden behind the eight ball. He remains locked in as a late first-round fantasy pick with top-five running back upside.

McFadden's Week 1 status was never in danger, and his primary goal now should be to stay healthy for the duration of preseason. He could be ready for the third exhibition game. McFadden, still just 24 years old, is conservatively projected for 245 carries, 54 receptions, and nine all-purpose scores in the 2011 Rotoworld Draft Guide. He'll get a lot more if he stays healthy.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>McFadden returned to practice on the 22nd and immediately resumed lighting it up with big plays. "Doesn't matter how much he practices," relayed McDonald from Napa Valley. "No one else close." McFadden is going to get the ball early and often this season. It's not crazy to think he's worth a top-five pick.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>McFadden's status for Week 9 against Denver remains in question. Beat writer Steve Corkran suggests Wednesday "might be a realistic target date" for McFadden to return to practice. Should McFadden sit out this week's game, Michael Bush would dominate the backfield with Taiwan Jones in a pace-change role.

It's a division game, and the organization believes it can defeat Tim Tebow's Broncos without Run DMC.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>McFadden appears to be targeting Week 10 for his return. He'll be just two weeks removed from his mid-foot sprain when the Raiders take on the Broncos Sunday and this kind of injury generally needs 2-4 weeks of recovery time. Michael Bush projects as a workhorse this week and is our No. 14 running back play.

As reported previously, McFadden has shed his protective walking boot. Michael Bush will start Sunday's game at Minnesota, and the Raiders face the Bears next. At that point, McFadden will have sat out five weeks (four games and a bye).
